14,000 miles in 33 days!
The National Day of Prayer, Southwestern Assemblies of God University, Reach America Coalition, Calvary Church and Cornerstone Church have joined forces to present the first annual Unite America in Prayer Tour, August 14 - September 15.

This revolutionary road trip, stretching around America's borders, was chartered to raise awareness of the power of prayer and the urgent need for believers across the country to return to the faith of our founding fathers. As the tour passes through over 190 cities, churches from every denomination and creed will be challenged to unite their cities in prayer on the National Day of Prayer on May 3, 2007. Through this government sanctioned day, celebrated each year on the first Thursday of May, the church is encouraged to leave its' walls and gather in the public square to worship and pray. This opportunity allows it to truly become what Matthew refers to as a "city on a hill that can not be hidden" to sow spiritual seeds and lead their communities in prayer.

As the pastors meet fellow Americans, they hope to communicate our need to come together as one body to exercise our Biblical and patriotic duty to pray for our families, our nation, and the leaders who will carry us into the next generation. God's principle is very clear in 2 Chronicles 7:14: "If my people, who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, forgive their sin and heal their land." His divine intervention is dependant on our repentance and intercession!

It's no surprise that we are living in challenging times. A few minutes of the evening news or the front page of your morning paper is all the evidence we need to see that America is in a dangerous position, with our continuing war on terror and spiraling spiritual crisis, at a time when we are no longer one nation under God.

However, there is hope. We believe that the power to change a nation begins with prayer. Therefore we are committed to pray over every city, county and state as we take 33 days to cover over 14,000 miles to drive the bordering states of the US. It's our hope that we can communicate, in a unique way, the importance of reclaiming America for God so we do not become one nation gone under!

Why Pray?
Our country has a rich heritage of prayer - whether it was President George Washington praying with the Continental Congress or Presidents Lincoln, Roosevelt and Bush calling for prayer during times of war. Throughout our history, we have always sought God's providence in times of need.

Benjamin Franklin once said: "I have lived, sir a long time, and the longer I live, the more convincing proofs I see of this truth - God governs in the affairs of men. And if a sparrow cannot fall to the ground without His notice, is it possible that an empire can rise without His aid?"

In 1 Timothy 2:1-4 it states: "I urge, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyonekings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness."

It is our patriotic and Biblical duty to pray for our nation. Through social engineering, we are raising up a generation of people that do not know God or the principles of God upon which this great nation was built. The great man of prayer E.M. Bounds once said: "Civil and Church leaders shape the affairs of this world. Therefore, civil and church leaders need to be shaped personally in spirit, in heart, in conduct, in truth and in righteousness, by the prayers of God's people."
